Sir Matthew Baillie Begbie (1819-1894) was one of the leading jurists in 19th century British Columbia and the British colonies which became British Columbia in 1871.
He briefly appears in our Butchart Garden History in Chapter 1 in connection with the theological dispute between Bishop George Hills and Reverend Edward Cridge in 1874-1875.
